Kira Gilmer

Kira started her yoga practice in Seattle in 2005 where she worked as a trauma critical care nurse. She found her practice to be healing and wholly encompassing, creating a strong connection between her and the rhythms of the natural world. In 2013 after a decade in nursing, Kira decided to focus her energy on deepening her yoga knowledge and teaching what she learned.

She initially completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training at 8 Limbs Yoga Centers. Soon after, life changes led Kira and her family to Northern New Mexico where she further pursued her yoga knowledge, specializing in pre and postnatal yoga and becoming certified as a registered prenatal yoga teacher. A year later, they landed in the Eastern Sierra town of Mammoth Lakes, CA where they enjoyed the rural, outdoor lifestyle. In 2016, Kira founded Mountain Sol Yoga in Mammoth Lakes, creating a vibrant, local community yoga studio. During this time, Kira traveled to Seattle to complete her 500-hour yoga teacher training receiving the opportunity to study with teachers Rod Stryker, Gary Kraftsow and Shari Friedrichsen.

With her young family continuing to grow, life brought them north to the Reno-Tahoe area where she currently resides with her husband and two young children. While originally trained in classical yoga, her teaching has evolved to a slow vinyasa style emphasizing breathwork, physical alignment and awareness of energetics within the subtle body. She is currently continuing her studies in Yoga Therapy with the American Viniyoga Institute.
