A Weekend of Self-Care!

We’re offering two amazing workshops during the last weekend of February. Get ready for spring by fully embracing the remaining winter weeks as the time for self-care and nurture:

Winter Self-Care:

Therapeutic Restorative Yoga with Reiki and Essential Oils:
A workshop with Suzanne Even

Saturday, Feb. 23, 1:30-4:00 pm

This workshop is limited to 20 people, so please enroll now.

Winter is a time to rest, reflect, heal and nourish the seeds of new intentions. By tuning to the cycles and vibrations of the environment that we live in, we can embrace the energy of Winter by nourishing the mind, body and soul. The workshop will open with an intention, a heart and throat opening mantra and a centering breathing exercise. In the therapeutic aspect of this workshop Yoga therapy balls will be used to relieve tension in the connective tissue, heal muscle and improve posture. Restorative Yoga will follow to find calm and rejuvenation for the mind, giving time and space for the nervous system to shift into repair. The healing energy of Reiki will be offered to facilitate the open flow of life energy, bringing soothing to the soul. And, to complete the whole experience, therapeutic grade essential oils will be offered to support and deepen the nourishing and healing.

There will also be a gift offering for 2 workshop participants, selected at random. The first gift is a 3 class pass from Rishi Yoga. The second gift is 2 samples of therapeutic grade essential oils.

The workshop will be led by Suzanne Even who has been leading group and private Yoga classes and offering workshops since 2012. She has completed 280 hours of Registered Yoga Teacher Trainings along with numerous continuing education hours. Suzanne has a B.S. degree in Health and Human Science and is a Certified Health Coach and Reiki practitioner. Her intention is to create the space within this workshop for you to not only relieve your body of tension and stress, but also to facilitate a profound relaxation and healing experience in mind, body and soul.

Myofascial Release

Low Back, Hips and Legs:
A workshop with Teresa Thissen

Sunday, Feb. 24, 1:30-3:30 pm

This workshop is limited to 20 people, so please enroll now.

Experience the benefits of self myofascial release in this two-hour workshop hosted by Yoga Medicine student Teresa Thissen. Myofascial Release is a safe and highly effective way to explore and heal the body and give a deeper level of awareness to the areas of the body that create tension and pain. Gentle pressure applied slowly allows the fascia (connective tissue) to lengthen, releasing tension created by trauma, injury, inflammatory responses and everyday stress. Myofascial release helps hydrate the tissues and break up adhesions caused from injury or postural habits. Because the fascia is a continuous web that connects all of the body, including the internal organs, addressing pain and tension in one area of may result in tension and pain release in a seemingly unrelated area of the body. Myofascial release shows us that the body is one system and that nothing happens in isolation from the whole.

This workshop will focus on the lower back, hips and the legs. Come enjoy the benefits of self myofascial release and take these techniques home with you so you can continue to enjoy them on your own! Your body deserves it! Feel free to bring a notebook and pen, or your phone, for note taking.

108 Sun Salutations

Held four times a year.
Contact us to learn more.
As we welcome a new season, we also remember and honor that which never changes, which is really the true purpose of this practice. We will flow through nine rounds of 12 sun salutations, with an intention/dedication before each round and a short break between the rounds. This is a physically challenging but extremely rewarding and mind calming practice. Modifications to the traditional series A sun salutation as well as less intense variations will be offered before we start, and you are welcome to use any variation or a mix of sun salutation styles. The goal is not to complete 108 sun salutations — the goal is the practice itself.
